Susan Acland-Hood, the chief executive of HM Courts and Tribunal Service (HMCTS), has said that the adoption process for both public and private law cases will be digitised as part of the next phase of courts and tribunals reform. Proposed reforms of the family justice system are heavily focused on digitalisation.
In a blog on Gov.uk, Acland-Hood has outlined the second stage of the reforms which will take place over the next 18 months. Reforms to the family justice system include:
- divorce applicants will be able to resolve uncontested cases fully online and resolve financial arrangements;
- the extension of the early system for probate so that everyone can apply for and receive probate online, quickly and easily;
- working to support seamless digital working to and through court, so that evidence can be submitted, bundled and shared electronically and cases can be managed much more securely and effectively; and
- the digitisation of the adoption process for both public and private law cases.
