Couples who have shared the care of their child in the first year after birth have had great experiences, says the Department for Business, Innovation & Skills

Parents who shared parental leave said they believe that it has not only benefited their children but also themselves as individuals, their relationships and their careers.



From April 2015, parents will have greater choice in how they share time off work and care in the first year of their child’s life. The new rules also apply to adoption or surrogacy.
