In January 2015, Cafcass received a total of 2,843 new private law cases. This is a 15% decrease on January 2014 levels.

Between April 2013 and March 2014 Cafcass received a total of 46,625 new private law cases.

This figure shows an increase of 2% from the 45,605 cases received in the previous financial year.

New cases received during the first six months were 15% higher than the same period in the previous year and demand in April, May, June, July and August, was the highest ever recorded by Cafcass in those individual months. The rise in demand then slowed down during the latter part of the year, with demand for all months from October 2013 onwards lower than the same months in the previous financial year.

The full figures are available on the Cafcass website.
