The Law Society has published guidance to assist those with mental health difficulties and those working in mental health to complain about the service or conduct of a solicitor or other legal representative. The guidance draws on discussions between the Law Society, the NHS and the Legal Aid Agency.

The Law Society volunteered to develop the guidance after discussions among mental health stakeholders, including the Legal Aid Agency. The discussions focused on maintaining the quality of services provided to mental health clients and identified that regulation of mental health legal services could be a confusing area for clients.
