A month after Birketts announced the launch of their Family and Matrimonial department in Cambridge, they have appointed partner Ian Pattinson to the firm as head of the team.

Ian, who joined Birketts in October 2009, will be working alongside colleague Teresa Brown who joined Birketts as a family and matrimonial associate in September.

Ian specialises in family law, particularly involving high net worth ancillary relief matters. He has considerable experience of cases involving preservation of business, farming and trust assets.

Ian is a member of the Cambridgeshire and West Suffolk Resolution committee and was ranked in band 1 for family law by legal directory, UK Chambers 2009 and as a leader in his field in Legal 500.

Oliver Gravell, head of Birketts' family and matrimonial team commented "I am delighted that Ian has now joined us to reform the successful partnership that he has had with Teresa for so many years. Birketts is very fortunate to have attracted such a high calibre team, and it underlines the way in which our Cambridge office is going from strength to strength.

"Ian and Teresa also add considerable experience and breadth and will enable us to build on the successes we are already experiencing in the field of family law in Ipswich and Norwich."
