Female Genital Mutilation: Law and Practice is a specialist title, written in close consultation with survivors of FGM and frontline practitioners from across the spectrum of disciplines. It provides a comprehensive and readily accessible guide for judges, lawyers, social workers, teachers, midwives and other related professionals.

Children's minister Robert Goodwill has announced funding for 24 new projects which form part of the children’s social care innovation programme. 95 projects have already received programme funding for projects which provide evidence of best practice and can improve children’s services across the UK. The latest projects will receive a share of £30m.

Projects which have been awarded funding include Credo Care, which aims to find specialist foster placements close to home for young disabled people currently living in out-of-area residential care. The government said this new type of foster caring will focus on young people with the most complex needs, developing self-care skills and supportive networks.

Barnardo’s will use its share of funding to maintain and expand the role of the National Female Genital Mutilation Centre.

Other projects include:

• Derby City Council

• The Adolescent and Children’s Trust

• Munro, Turnell & Murphy
