Congratulations to the founder and senior lawyer of the AIRE Centre, Nuala Mole, who has been named the most innovative European lawyer by the Financial Times for her work assisting separated children across Europe.

Ms Mole has more than 25 years’ experience litigating children’s rights and set up the Aire Centre in 1992 to promote awareness of European law rights and assist marginalised individuals and those in vulnerable circumstances to assert those rights. She set up the Separated Children in Judicial Proceedings Project in 2015 to promote a joined up child-centred approach by legal professionals who work with children separated from their families.

The Financial Times judges were impressed by the cross-jurisdictional nature of Ms Mole’s work and felt the award to her was ‘timely during Europe’s refugee crisis and the arrival of many unaccompanied children’.

Graeme Fraser provided a summary of the Aire Centre's June 2017 project event in ‘Child’s perspective: relocation and abduction cases’, October [2017] Fam Law 1142.
