A new scheme aimed at helping litigants in person appearing before the Bristol Family and Civil courts is being launched next week.

This free initiative is designed to help people who face the possibility of attending (or are attending) proceedings in the small claims or family courts (eg contact with children issues).

The scheme will consist of an information session and a tour of the court between 1.00pm – 2.00pm on each Thursday and/or Friday.

It is hoped that the information session will assist the public in finding their way through the legal system by explaining technical terms, describing the court process, and offering assistance in how to prepare for a hearing. This help is for people involved in a dispute, those who work with individuals involved in legal disputes and those who simply want to learn more about the court process.

The first session for small claims matters is on Thursday, 19 January between 1.00pm – 2.00pm at the Bristol Family and Civil courts. The second session is for family law matters on Friday, 20 January between 1.00pm – 2.00pm.

Anyone who is interested in attending can contact Amanda Crutchley on 01483 216 571 to book their place.

The courts are located at Bristol Family and Civil Court, 2 Redcliff Street, Bristol, BS1 6GR.

Please circulate this information to staff, volunteers, professional colleagues or any members of the public who may benefit,
