The husband's appeal against an ancillary relief award to the wife of £3.75m (36% of the assets) was dismissed. The judge's order did not put undue pressure on the trustees who were likely to make available to the husband such resources as he requested. The process by which a judge ultimately arrives at an award often involves looking at the facts from a number of angles and trying out various solutions. The judge had considered the source of the assets, departed from equality, stood back and made a decision within the band open to her.
