The annual report was published today for the Family Procedure Rule Committee, a non-departmental public body sponsored by the Ministry of Justice set up under the Courts Act 2003 to make rules of court for use in family proceedings.

In the report, the Family Procedure Rule Committee explains purpose of Child Abduction Working Party, Children's Proceedings Working Party, Experts Working Party, Financial Proceedings Working Party and Rule Harmonisation Working Party.

The report also states that the committee completed a master document containing draft Family Procedure Rules and key practice directions. The development of rules across all areas of family procedure by the Committee and its working parties led to a virtual first draft of the new Rules last July.

A copy of the report can be found on the Ministry of Justice's website: www.justice.gov.uk/publications/fpr-annual-report-2007.htm.
