The Bar Standards Board (BSB) has today announced the appointment of Dr Ann Barker as new Complaints Commissioner.

Dr Ann Barker joins the BSB today, and takes over from Ros Gardner, Interim Complaints Commissioner.

Dr Ann Barker currently chairs the Border and Immigration Agency's Complaints Audit Committee and is a member of a number of other panels including the General Medical Council's Fitness to Practice Panel, the Mental Health Review Tribunal and the Appeal Panel of the Postgraduate, Medical Education and Training Board.

Prior to joining the Border and Immigration Agency, her roles have included membership of the Parole Board and the Police Complaints Authority.

Commenting Ruth Evans, BSB Chair, said: I am delighted that Ann will be joining the BSB. Competition for the post was of a very high standard and she will bring valuable experience to the role.
