Mr Justice Cobb appointed as Family Division Liaison Judge for the North Eastern Circuit

The President of the Family Division, in consultation with the Lord Chancellor, has appointed Mr Justice Cobb as Family Division Liaison Judge for the North Eastern Circuit. He will succeed Mr Justice Moylan. The appointment will take effect from 1 August 2015.

Mr Justice Cobb has recently joined the editorial board of Family Law Reports as a Consultant Editor and has become a Case Reports Consultant for Family Law journal.

Sir Stephen was a specialist family law barrister for over 20 years before being appointed to the Bench. Since becoming a QC in 2003, he specialised in the law relating to children. He won the prize for Family Law QC of the Year at Jordan Publishing's Family Law Awards 2012, and for 2 years (2010-2011) was Chairman of the Family Law Bar Association (FLBA), at a time of significant change for the Family Bar.

Sir Stephen has a long association with Family Law journal, from his article ‘Relative security – the case for reform of intra-family adoption’ in the October 1999 issue through to ‘Seen but not heard’ in February [2015] Fam Law 144.
