LSC family fees training events

20 July 2010

The Legal Services Commission (LSC) has announced the launch of 68 national training events to help providers prepare for the Family Fee Schemes 2010.

The LSC will be implementing the new schemes on 14 October 2010. These are:

- A family advocacy scheme (FAS). This creates a single graduated fee scheme, covering payments to both solicitor advocates and barristers for public and private family law cases.

- A fixed fee private family law representation scheme (PFLRS). This pays solicitors standard fees, covering work (excluding advocacy) from the issue of proceedings up to the conclusion of the final hearing.

The training will ensure providers know what they will be paid, claim accurately and receive correct payment. There will be 43 events for solicitors and 25 events for barristers, during September and early October. All events are free, but no CPD points will be available.

Places will be allocated on a first-come first-served basis, and initially limited to one place per firm. For more information, including a calendar of events and details on how to book, visit the LSC website.
